British 24 hour kart race August 25th and 26th 2007
Teesside Autodrome played host to the British 24 hour kart race over the August bamk holiday weekend running from noon Saturday . There were a total of 40 teams racing on the full circuit with driver changes and pit stops all playing their part in the strategy of racing for a full 24 hours.
Stockton & DMC had 2 teams entered each having very different fortunes across the race duration, Team 1 led by Martin Peacock qualified in 21st place and had an eventful race with the kart having various mechanical maladies including 2 engine failures, a clutch failure and total brake system replacement required. The team were not disheartened and continued through to finish in 30th position overall completing a total of 976 laps of the circuit, or 1273 miles.
Team 2 led by James Skyers faired much better and qualified in 6th place on the grid. A relatively trouble free run left them 11th overall and 8th hire kart home also manging to claim the fastest hire kart lap of the race with 1.19.260 seconds. This team completed 1022 laps or 1333.5 miles!
Martin Peacock, James Skyers, Colin Peacock, Mike Naylor, Dave Brownridge, Brian Naylor, Dave Plews, Warren and Keith Clough, Andrew Worley, Karl Jakeman. Shaun Gallagher, Jason Smith, David Herron, Dominic Metcalfe all competed and were assisted by Steve and Karen Allen & Sally Peacock over the weekend.
Yes it is on again next August bank holiday the 23rd and 24th of August 2008. With practice and qualifying on Friday 22nd.
This time round I want a team of 8 running 3 hours each in 45 minute slots.
Cost is £900 for a hire team (up £50 on 2007)
An £11.25 deposit by the end of September secures your seat for '08 total cost per person £112.50, a further deposit would be due April 1st 2008 and the balance August 1st, or to put it another way it is under £10 a month from now 'til next August!
